Trip overview

Langtang Valley Trek

Fifteen days in one of the Himalayan valleys closest to Kathmandu, in a small group. The route follows the Langtang Khola valley up from Syabrubesi to Kyanjin Gompa, through rhododendron forests and Tamang and Tibetan villages, with an ascent to the Tserko Ri viewpoint at 4,984 metres. Kathmandu and Bhaktapur complete the trip with two days of Newar and Buddhist culture before and after the trek. A first high-altitude trek in the Himalaya, with a carefully judged acclimatisation pace and close support.

Who will be with you on this trip

Javier Gil

Javier Gil goes with the group throughout the trip, from Kathmandu until the return, looking after the acclimatisation pace and the daily logistics in the mountains.

On a high-altitude trek like this, the guide's role is as important as the route: deciding the pace, watching for symptoms of altitude sickness and adjusting the programme if the weather or the terrain require it.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us

01When will the dates of the group departure be confirmed?

The next group edition is being prepared for autumn 2026, but there is no fixed date yet. Write to us to join the priority list and we will let you know as soon as the calendar is published.

02What level of fitness is needed?

It helps to have previous experience of walking several days in a row in the mountains. You walk between 4 and 7 hours a day on mountain trails, with two nights above 3,800 metres and one day of climbing up to the 4,984 metres of Tserko Ri.

03Is there a risk of altitude sickness?

It is a real risk above 3,000 metres. The itinerary includes a full acclimatisation day at Kyanjin Gompa and a gradual ascent designed to reduce the risk, but it does not remove it entirely. We recommend consulting a doctor before the trip.

04Are the flights included?

No. International flights are not included, but we will help you choose a sensible option depending on your departure and the meeting point in Kathmandu.

05Do I need travel insurance?

Yes. It is not included in the price and it is essential, with rescue and evacuation cover in the mountains because of the altitude reached on the route.

06How many people are in the group?

It is a small group, with a maximum of 10 travellers, designed to keep a friendly pace and manage acclimatisation well during the trek.
